Installation of openSuse 10.2

3rd party programs

• Vmware – Installation as described in Setting up VMware on SUSE Linux
• Crossover
  After the Installation of crossover Version 6 I could install MS Office 2003 without any problems. This is a great contrast to Suse 10.1 where crossover worked well, but did not integrate into the KDE Menu, so that it was quite unusable. Next I installed IE 6 to be able to test websites in Internet Explorer 6.
• VPN Client
  My university offers a vpn connection to the IP network of the university. The Installation is described in VPN Client User Guide. The network is started with the command

  vpnclient connect Zugang_aus_dem_Internet_zur_Uni_Hannover

  This can be placed in a link on the desktop. This link must include the setting ‘run as root’.
